Here at TERM we're pleased to announce that we're partnering with several Strategic Migration Partnerships around England to provide funded places for at least 60 teachers to take our tutored online course in Core Skills for Teaching English to Refugees and Migrants.
SMPs are hubs located around the country aimed at supporting the refugees and migrants in the area, which includes the provision of English / ESOL lessons.
Working with online teacher training provider Nile Online, we'll be providing funded courses for teachers in the South-West, in the East, and in the North-West of England.
Each course provides core skills in teaching English to Refugees and Migrants, including trauma-informed teaching, working with complete beginners, lesson and course planning, materials, activities, classroom management and cultural awareness.
The South-West teachers' course starts in mid-November, while those for the East and North-West of England come online in January.
Each course is eight weeks long, with an optional assignment at the end.
The South-West and East courses are fully booked, but there are still places on the North-West course. So if you're a teacher in the Manchester area, or anywhere in north-west England, you may be able to get a funded place on the course.
There are up to 18 places available on each course, and it's aimed at teachers new or in their first few years of teaching English to refugees and migrants.
For more information see our Course page on the website or check out Nile's description on their open course page.
